Alexander Gelou, M.D.

Born and raised in the greater Vancouver, British Columbia area Dr. Alexander Gelou is happy to be back close to home. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University Of British Columbia before going to Ross University for medical school and subsequently Duke University / SRAHEC for residency training. He has practiced in Fayetteville, North Carolina and Palm Springs California before coming to Bellingham, Washington.

Dr. Alexander Gelou has completed specialty training in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of Osteoporosis and Bone Health. He has completed the Bone Health & Osteoporosis Foundation Fraction Liaison Program which is aimed at creating a personalized plan to treat and prevent bone fractures.

Dr. Alexander Gelou is a Certified Clinical Densitometrist (CCD®) accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) in affiliation with the International Society for Clinical Densitometry.

He has completed additional specialty training in the prevention and treatment of Obesity through Columbia University and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine.

Sandhya Manivannan Gelou, M.D.

Born and raised in Long Island, New York Dr. Sandhya Gelou now calls the Pacific Northwest home. She completed her undergraduate training at Drexel University in Philadelphia before attending Ross University School of Medicine. She completed her residency and specialty fellowship training at Duke University / SRAHEC. Prior to moving to Bellingham, Washington she has practiced in Fayetteville, North Carolina and Palm Springs, California.

Dr. Sandhya Gelou is a Diabetologist whose practice is focused on the prevention and treatment of Diabetes. She has worked in research and helped develop and approve the continuous glucose monitors that are in widespread use now.

She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine. In addition to her obesity specialty training at Duke University / SRAHEC she completed further focused training at Harvard University.

Dr. Sandhya Gelou is actively involved in community health through the Diabetes, Osteoporosis & Weight Loss Center community outreach program as well as consulting as a volunteer for the Mount Baker Foundation a non-profit organization.
